This recipe shows you how to cook bacon in the oven - all you need is bacon, baking sheet, parchment paper, and an oven set to 400 degrees. Its so much cleaner than the stovetop and easy to make crispy or soft bacon.

Our Sausage Potato Soup contains bacon, so you might want to give it a try if you love bacon as much as we do.

You are going to love the benefits of cooking bacon in the oven.

Oh, how I love bacon.

However, I never look forward to the mess of making it in a pan on the stovetop, with the grease spraying everywhere, the smoke alarm (sometimes) being set off, and the clean up of the stovetop afterwards.

You can say goodbye to the aforementioned annoyances, if you cook your bacon in the oven. How did I not figure this out earlier?

I made my first batch of bacon in the oven a few weeks ago, and forgot to share this with you. After making my second batch this afternoon, I'm sitting down now to share.  Its just so good.

And, its soooooo easy.  Just line a baking sheet with parchment paper, line up your bacon, and place in preheated 400 degree oven.  The clean up is just removing the parchment paper from the baking sheet and discarding.

You can make crispy or soft bacon easily, depending on how long you leave it in the oven.

We like medium crispy, with some soft spots. Twenty minutes in a pre heated 400 degree oven is perfect for us.

We love center cut applewood smoked bacon. It just always cooks up so nicely. Truth be told, we like thinner bacon too, but given the choice, thick cut applewood is our first choice.

Sizzling bacon cooked in the oven on foil just after being removed from oven.

Can you cook bacon in the oven without foil?

Yes, use parchment paper.  I use parchment paper for all things baking...for my cookies, brownies, cakes etc...  I feel like foil sticks to some foods and tears easily.  Parchment paper is a seamless tool that your will love using all the time.  I promise.

How to cook bacon in the oven?

Simple.  Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.   Its best to use a baking sheet with a rim, so the grease will not drip off into the oven.  Place your uncooked bacon onto baking sheet and cook for 18-25 minutes, depending on the crispy level you like for your bacon.

I like making 10 pieces of bacon at a time.  Even if we do not eat all of the bacon, I store in my fridge, covered with plastic wrap, and crumble the bacon over a salad for dinner or lunch the next day.

Hope you enjoy this very easy way to cook bacon.
