- Shortening
- Blackberries
- Sugar
How to Make Blackberry Cobbler?
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour and salt.
- With a fork, cut the shortening into the dry mixture, until the dough is in pea-sized dough balls.
- Add about ½ cup very cold water to the mixture, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Form dough into a ball. It should still be a little dry.
- Place the dough ball on a floured surface and roll out to a ¼ inch thickness.
- Cut out an 8x8 inch piece of dough and place on the bottom of lightly greased 8x8 inch baking pan.
- In a small bowl, mix blackberries, sugar, and flour.
- Scoop berry mixture on top of the dough in baking pan.
- Cut strips of dough from remaining dough to use for the top of cobbler. Place dough strips in a criss-cross pattern on top.
- Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes.

How do you prepare fresh blackberries?
Place the blackberries in a strainer under the kitchen faucet and spray blackberries with water.
How do you store blackberry cobbler?
You can store cobbler at room temperature for up to 12 hours. After 12 hours, it's best to refrigerate.
Tips:
- You can use blackberries or raspberries for this cobbler. Both would be delicious.
- Do not add too much water when you're creating the dough. You want the dough to be a little dry, before rolling it out.
- Don't forget to sprinkle a little sugar on top of the criss-cross dough on top. It adds a little punch of sweetness and texture variety to the dish.
- You can cook it longer if you'd like the crust to be more browned.
This is a delicious and very easy cobbler to make for the family. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
-
In a medium bowl, mix the flour and salt together.

Add the shortening to the dry ingredients and cut in with a fork, working into the dry ingredients, until the dough is in pea-sized pieces.
-
Add cold water to the dough, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough begins to come together, when you pat it into a ball. It should be a little dry.

Add dough ball to a floured surface and roll out to a ¼ inch thick piece of dough.

Bake for 25-30 minutes in preheated oven.
-
Remove from oven and eat immediately, or cool and enjoy later.
-
Enjoy this amazingly delicious cobbler!
Recipe Notes
Note:
- You can use fresh or frozen blackberries.
- Feel free to use raspberries instead of blackberries.
- For the cutting of the dough, do not worry about the cuts being perfect. I placed small strips of dough together to form the criss cross, and it was still delicious.
