The combination of orange and chicken in this ground chicken dinner recipe is perfect when you're looking for a sweet and savory dish.

I usually cook ground beef or ground turkey for dinner and am so glad I'm adding ground chicken to the mix.  Look for more ground chicken recipes here in the near future.  It'll be nice to add a little more variety to the family dinners.

I'm thinking I could try ground chicken meatballs or meatloaf or even ground chicken sloppy joe's.  Why not?  They all sound fabulous.

This recipe combines so many flavors I love including fresh ginger, orange zest, spring onions, crushed red pepper flakes, and soy sauce.

And, of course, I'm always a big fan of a heaping plate of fluffy white rice.  Its hard to beat a comfort meal that includes ground chicken and rice, ground beef and rice or ground turkey and rice.

Tips:

  1. You can adjust the sugar to your desire for sweetness vs savory in this dish.  I reduced the sugar to 3 tablespoons for us, and it was still a touch sweet.  I will most likely use 1-2 tablespoons next time.  I tend to like savory dinners, so that I have a sweet craving for dessert.
  2. Definitely garnish with chopped spring onions.  The crunch is a nice texture addition.
  3. Tossing sesame seeds on top of this chicken dish would be a good idea.  Also, serving with a side of broccoli would work well too.

Hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we did.  SO great to whip up midweek for a comfort food family dinner.
