I usually cook ground beef or ground turkey for dinner and am so glad I'm adding ground chicken to the mix. Look for more ground chicken recipes here in the near future. It'll be nice to add a little more variety to the family dinners.
I'm thinking I could try ground chicken meatballs or meatloaf or even ground chicken sloppy joe's. Why not? They all sound fabulous.
This recipe combines so many flavors I love including fresh ginger, orange zest, spring onions, crushed red pepper flakes, and soy sauce.
And, of course, I'm always a big fan of a heaping plate of fluffy white rice. Its hard to beat a comfort meal that includes ground chicken and rice, ground beef and rice or ground turkey and rice.
Tips:
- You can adjust the sugar to your desire for sweetness vs savory in this dish. I reduced the sugar to 3 tablespoons for us, and it was still a touch sweet. I will most likely use 1-2 tablespoons next time. I tend to like savory dinners, so that I have a sweet craving for dessert.
- Definitely garnish with chopped spring onions. The crunch is a nice texture addition.
- Tossing sesame seeds on top of this chicken dish would be a good idea. Also, serving with a side of broccoli would work well too.

Ground Chicken Dinner Recipe with Orange Sauce
Easy and healthy ground chicken recipe that is perfect for those rushed midweek dinners. Only takes 30 minutes to create this delicious dinner.
Ingredients
Orange Sauce
- 1 tbsp white cooking wine
- 2 tbsp water
- ½ tsp sesame oil
- 4 tsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 4 tbsp white vinegar
- zest of ½ orange
Chicken
- 1 tbsp ginger root, minced
- 2 tsp garlic, minced
- ¼ tsp hot red chili pepper, crushed
Cornstarch Mixture
- 1 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 lb ground chicken
Instructions
Orange Sauce

Combine the white cooking wine, 2 tablespoons water, sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, white vinegar, and orange zest.
Cornstarch Mixture

Dissolve 1 tablespoon cornstarch in the remaining 1 tablespoon of water and set aside.
Chicken

Add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil to large sauce pan. Cook chicken until a crust forms, then begin to break apart and cook until all chicken is nicely browned.

Add the ginger, garlic, and crushed red pepper to chicken and cook for 10 seconds.

Add in the orange sauce to the chicken and bring to a boil.

Add in the cornstarch mixture to the meat in the pan and cook for a few seconds, stirring mixture until it thickens a bit.
