Homemade taco seasoning recipe for 1 pound of meat. Just mix up 9 ingredients and your taco seasoning is ready in minutes.

You can use this seasoning mix in my Delicious Taco Skillet, Easy Beef Enchilada Casserole, and Taco Casserole.

Homemade taco seasoning ingredients in a glass bowl.

This homemade taco seasoning came in handy today when I realized I was out of taco seasoning packets as I was making my oven-baked chicken tacos.

Luckily, I had all of these spices in my kitchen and was able to whip up my much-needed seasoning in no time at all.

Ingredients you will need for homemade taco seasoning:

  1. Chili powder
  2. Ground cumin
  3. Garlic powder
  4. Paprika or smoked paprika
  5. Dried oregano
  6. Onion powder
  7. Sea salt
  8. Freshly ground pepper
  9. Crushed red pepper flakes

How do you make taco seasoning from scratch?

Mix the following 9 ingredients together:

  1. 1 tablespoon chili powder
  2. 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  3. 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  4. 1 teaspoon paprika or smoked paprika
  5. ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  6. ½ teaspoon onion powder
  7. ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  8. ¼ teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  9. ¼ crushed red pepper flakes

Now that you're armed with this recipe, you will not have to fret next time you realize you have run out of taco seasoning packets. This is a great homemade taco seasoning for ground beef or ground turkey.

For any homemade tacos you're making, this seasoning is the best. For my ground beef enchiladas, this seasoning would be wonderful.

I've been wanting to create a delicious new taco salad recipe with a tortilla shell, and I think my new homemade seasoning is just the thing to inspire me to get to work.

For me, this mix is so easy to throw together, I will most likely be making this seasoning mix rather than buy the store-bought packets in the future.

Hope you find this recipe as handy as we do! Enjoy!
