How to color fondant is a typical question for fondant cake newbies.  Luckily, coloring fondant with liquid food coloring is super easy and fun.

I love making cakes and cupcakes.  If you do too, you might enjoy Vanilla Cupcakes with Milk Chocolate Frosting, Pumpkin Spice cupcakes, and Homemade Chocolate Cake with Fudgy Frosting.
How to color fondant

Coloring fondant is something I've been wanting to learn for awhile.  Good news is, its super fun and easy (although a little messy).

If you are making your own homemade fondant like the marshmallow fondant recipe I recently posted, then the coloring part will be your next step toward making beautiful decorations for your cake projects.

I wanted to know learn fondant coloring for the upcoming holiday season, which prompted me to figure this out.

Steps to coloring fondant:

1. Once you have stored your homemade fondant for at least 12 hours, you will want to knead it with your hands to warm it up and make it more pliable.

2. Using a gel color, dip a toothpick in the color you've chosen and rub in the middle of the fondant ball.

3. Fold the fondant over the color and begin to knead.  You will see the fondant start to change to the color.

4. If you would like the color to be darker, simply dip the toothpick and rub in the fondant ball again.

This is really all there is coloring fondant.  Have fun with all of the stunning gel colors available today.

I'm looking forward to utilizing my new talent with many beautiful and delicious cakes in the near future.  There are so many amazing colors and designs available.  The sky's the limit with this project.
